5 Ways to Love Your Body

Bodies come in all shapes and sizes, but rarely are they all accepted by society. Too many of us are self-conscious and self-critical, and we all see flaws in ourselves. The worst things we can do are make comparisons to and assumptions about others. Perhaps we don’t think another person is justified in his or her complaints because, “At least they are thin,” or “At least they have curves.”  We all need to learn to love who we are because we are all unique; there is no perfect body. Here are five ways to help you learn to love yourself, no matter your size.

  1. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others:

The most important thing you can do to start loving yourself is to stop comparing your body to someone else’s. Comparisons only lead to jealousy and envy, and you will never be happy with yourself if you compare yourself to another. Everyone has flaws, even if they are not visible to you. We were all made differently, and every single body has its beauty.

Don’t even think about comparing yourself to the models that you see in the magazines or on the runway. Magazines are photoshopped and what you see on the runway is often the result of heavy makeup and body sculpting.

  1. Change how you perceive yourself:

In order to love yourself, you must change your perception of yourself. Say positive things about your body and keep saying them until you actually start believing every word. The proof that this works is because this practice is how you started to dislike your body in the first place; you kept seeing yourself in a negative light and finding the flaws until you started believing every thought. Turn that process around and start finding the positive.

  1. Go to the gym:

Or the park, a dance class, a yoga class, or an exercise class. Physical activity is a great way to learn to love your body. Trying new exercises or taking on a physical challenge helps you get to know your body in a whole new way. You will discover new abilities, new strengths, and new power, just by moving your body. When you see yourself, you will also start to see just what you are capable of, instead of what you look like.

  1. Practice gratitude:

It can always be worse. Be grateful that you are healthy and that you have the resources or mental clarity to pursue something different. Be thankful for what you have, what you can do, and how far you can go.

  1. Be your own cheerleader:

When you look in the mirror, do not focus on the flaws. Find the things you love about your body and celebrate the smallest victories. Be your own cheerleader instead of your worst enemy.

Before you can move forward in life, whether it is in a relationship, a job, or a new endeavour, success will only come after you learn to love and appreciate yourself.

The Benefits of Exercise for your Hormones

Exercise is the best gift you can give yourself for peri-menopause and beyond.

Consistent, regular exercise can change your life in ways you may not have considered.

Here are a few ways.

Benefit #1: It improves your self-esteem.

Exercising regularly or more than twice a week will make you feel better about yourself and naturally improve your self-esteem. It will make you feel like you have accomplished something and like you have done something amazing for yourself.

This feeling of accomplishment will make you believe in yourself more and you will become confident in other aspects of your life.

Benefit #2: It will make your skin glow.

If you battle with bad or dull skin, try adding exercise to your daily to-do list and make it a point to check it off.

Regular exercise can help relieve dullness and may help prevent the signs of early aging like wrinkles and fine lines.

Benefit #3: You will sleep better.

Regular exercise will reward you with a peaceful night of deep and quality sleep.

Exercising strengthens your body’s circadian rhythms, which keep you alert and awake during the day and make you feel sleepy at night. If you find it hard to sleep, try just fifteen minutes of exercise a day and notice the improvements.

Benefit #4: It helps control your weight.

Exercising on a regular basis helps you burn the calories that you have consumed throughout the day so that you can either lose or maintain your weight and build muscle tone.

Benefit #5: It improves your memory and brain health.

Exercising can improve your memory and the overall health of your brain. It can prevent brain fog, that sudden shut down of your brain that happens when you get tired and makes even the simplest and most routine tasks seem difficult and suddenly very confusing.

Exercise also stimulates the production of hormones, which aid in the repair and growth of your brain cells.

Benefit #6: It helps reduce chronic pains.

Regular exercise can help in reducing and possibly eliminating excruciating chronic pains. One of the most common causes of chronic pain is inactivity.

Your body is just like a machine; as long as it remains active, it will function well.

Several studies have also shown that regular exercise can increase your pain tolerance and decrease your body’s perception of pains and aches.

Benefit #7: It can help you feel happier.

Last but, not the least, regular exercise can help reduce or prevent feelings of anxiety and depression and make you feel happy again.

According to a study conducted by Oxford University, people who exercise regularly, even at a beginner level, are found to be more content and happier than those who fail to do so.

To feel even better, try increasing the intensity of your workouts slowly and feel more accomplished, healthy, and happy.

How to Have Better Relationships Through Your Own Self Love

In today’s busy world, we rarely set time aside for ourselves and often ignore our well being. This ignorance can lead to mental and physical health issues and start to seep into our relationships. It is critical that you take some time out of your busy schedule for just you. We tend to neglect ourselves and put off taking a break for any sort of self-care.

This can lead to a never-ending work cycle with no recreation that may leave you feeling down, frustrated or even hysteric. The easy solution to this problem is to take care of you. Take some “me-time” out of your around-the-clock schedule and treat yourself to something nice and stress-relieving.

Do not feel selfish about it, because when you feel good, you are better able to take good care of your relationships and your work.

Ways to Promote Self-love

There is no specific rule of thumb to taking care of yourself; it can involve anything you like to do that makes you feel refreshed. Here is a short list of ideas:

  • Spend some time alone, away from the world, in a calm and quiet place. You can go for a morning walk or visit a park. Don’t turn on the TV or laptop. Just be with yourself.
  • Reflect on what has been happening in your life. Appreciate your achievements and encourage yourself to do more.
  • Read your favorite book or some poetry.
  • Focus your energy on being a beautiful person on the inside rather than focusing on the outward beauty.
  • Get up early in the morning, eat healthily throughout the day, get some exercise and meditation, and go to bed early. This healthy routine will keep your mind and body on the right track and your soul will automatically feel refreshed.

With these simple steps, you can learn to love yourself and bring positive changes to your life.

Spend Time with Your Loved Ones

Spending time with your loved ones is food for the soul. You feel refreshed and happy when you get enough attention, love, and time from your loved ones and vice versa. To boost the energy level of your mind and body and to help satisfy your soul, try to maximize the time you spend with your family, your partner, and your kids. Here are some good ways to maximize small amounts of time:

  • Arrange specific activities that you love to do with your partner or kids. For example, go to a theme park and take rides with your children, or plan a movie night with your partner. These little trips will help you stay happy and feel blessed.
  • Always plan ahead if you are usually busy so that you don’t disappoint your family by not showing up.
  • Give yourself a break from technology; your phone, iPad, and laptop need to stay away from you in order for you to spend quality time with your family and actually be present in the moment.
  • Try to communicate with your partner and children one-on-one to promote feelings of mutual love and respect.
  • Use positive affirming words to give off positive vibes.

These steps will help to promote a healthy family life, which will have a deep positive impact on your mind, body, and soul. Loving your family and loving your life starts with loving yourself. Love yourself and you will excel!
